Woot BOC Wine Bag

Woot Wine Bag

If you are not familiar with woot.com, it is a strange little shopping website that started in texas a number of years ago. They get discontinued or overstock items, and sell one per day. Every night at 12:01 am you can visit the site to see what the newest item is. The item will sell until it is sold out, or until 12 the following night. At 12 the next item will appear and the cycle will continue.

On occassion they will hold what is called a Woot-Off! During a woot-off, items are sold until they sell out and then the next item is immediatly put up for sell.  It can make for some frantic refreshing as valuable items like iPods and Laptops are intermingled with strange things like robotic vacuuum cleaners and small plastic green frogs that can detect water leaks. Woot-Offii typically last 2 or 3 days.

At some point during the madness of the woot off you will find the item added is the mythical Random Crap, or Bag of Crap. The BOC will contain one bag of some sort, and then 1-  3 random items.  You are allowed to purchase up to three of the random craps, and are encouraged to go ahead and get three, since shipping is 5 dollars either way. So typically you throw in $8 and cross your fingers, remembering stories of the guy that got a note that one of the craps was too big and then received a 61" HDTV as part of his random crap. (Yes he really got an HDTV for $8!). Another guy got an XBOX 360.

For some reason, in the woot.com forums whenever you typed Bag of Crap , the server would replace it with something else such as Bulgarian Olympic Committee, Bandolier of Carrots, Bushels of Cooties, or other bizarre things with the initials B.O.C. I have always found this most hilarious.

Due to the manic demand for the Blinged Out Cabbage, it will only be on the site for a few moments before the servers will become completly overwhelmed and melt under the strain. If you do not get your order in really fast, you are out of luck. It is like trying to catch the white stag in Narnia, or the greased blind guy in Family Guy, you have to be really fast and more than a bit lucky.

On April 1st,  I managed to catch a Banjo of Consternation sale and jumped in to try and get some. I was able to get the order in but then the servers melted and it appeared that I was just a bit late.

I was very suprised then, when a week or so ago we found a large Woot box sitting on our doorstep. We quickly opened it and found that it was truly filled with random crap! The one thing it contained that was really cool was this nifty wine bag. It has 6 compartments inside that are designed to hold bottles of wine safely. It prompted us to go get some wine recently and it worked really well.

I will discuss the rest of the crap another time as there was nothing to be very excited about, but I wanted to show you guys the bag that inspired the wine. Love it!

Thanks Woot
